Dear Parktown Family.

I attended Parktown Boys’ High School during the mid-90s and had the privilege of being named Head Boy in my final year. I played 1st Team Rugby and was Captain of Rowing in my Matric year. I returned to Parktown Boys as a staff member in 2003 and after a number of management positions as Head of History and Head of various Grades, I was appointed Deputy Head in 2012. Since then I have fulfilled numerous portfolios including Discipline, Admissions and Marketing and in more recent years I have overseen the daily operations at the school as the Senior Deputy Headmaster. From 2017, I have had a number of stints as the Acting Headmaster.

Since I began my teaching career, I have had a desire and ambition to one day be appointed the Headmaster of my alma mater. I am honoured to now have this opportunity in this our centenary year. My immediate task will be the rollout of Parktown 2027. This vision relates to what Parktown will look like when our centenary Grade 8s reach matric. Our target is to be the top academic school while retaining a competitive edge in a range of selected activities. The modernisation of our classrooms is a key initiative to ensure that our learning environment is inspiring and a place where we can collaborate and engage with our boys in a space that promotes a love of learning and excellence. My approach will be to combine the best of our past with the limitless potential of our positive future. This will ensure that the key value of our school, Respect for All, is never compromised as we embark on this new and exciting journey that will see the school through the first part of its second century.

Parktown 2027 will become a reality because of the bravery and care taken by those who have an opportunity to move the school forward. This will never be achieved in isolation, and it will take a team effort involving our staff, boys, parents, alumni, ex parents, and friends of our community to make this happen. Now is the time to mobilise and be a part of the evolution that has already begun.
